Welcome Prof. Dilip Kumar Jha from Agriculture and Forestry University (AFU), Rampur, Chitwan, Nepal to be Keynote Speaker!
Professor Dilip Kumar Jha received his Ph.D. in Aquaculture and Aquatic Resources Management from the Asian Institute of Technology, Thailand, has over 36 years of experience in Teaching, Research and extension. He is a professor in the Department of Aquatic Resources at the Agriculture and Forestry University (AFU), Rampur, Chitwan, Nepal. Throughout his career, he has worked with an academic institution, research, and non- governmental agencies working in Nepal. In 1982, he has started his research on the Fishery Resources of Karnali River under the Dolphin and Crocodile Ecology Project, where he worked as a Research Scholar. His project has played a key role in launching new projects that support international collaboration. Jha’s research focuses on status and conservation of fish diversity of major river systems in Nepal. Earlier, he has Participated in “Research Workshop on Gender Studies in Agriculture”, held at Wageningen Agriculture University, Wageningen, The Netherlands, 1991.He has successfully completed several national and international projects through different organizations. He has published over a hundred articles in national and international journals as well as several books and laboratory manuals on Aquaculture and Fish health Management. Presented innovative project entitled” Developing infant/children feed supplements using fish as main ingredient through empowering ethnic women in Nepal” In South Asia regional Development Market Place innovate for Nutrition,2009 Grant competition. Organized by The World Bank, Dhaka, Bangladesh, August 5, 2009. Also, he was actively involved in AquaFish Innovation Lab project supported by USAID through Oregon State University and University of Michigan. With the support of AquaFish Innovation Lab he was able to create awareness on human nutrition through school pond program. Also he successfully completed his tenure as a Director of Curriculum Development Center at AFU. Before the Director, he has served as the Chair of the Aquaculture and Fisheries department at AFU and the most experienced faculty member. Also, he is a chair of fisheries and aquaculture subject committee and visited worldwide. His recent achievements include the Life time achievement award by Glocal Environment and Social Association during International Conference on Environment and Society -2019 at Harcourt Butler Technical University, Kanpur, India on December 22, 2019, and Scientist of the year-2019 Award by International Foundation for Environment and Ecology during International Conference on Environment and Ecology -2020 at University of Allahabad, Prayagraj, India on 24th February, 2020. He is mainly focusing on solving challenges in the production of finfish species as well as investigation and conservation of native fishes and creating awareness on nutrition.
